Beyond the Food/Mood Connection
Nutritional Approaches to Emotional Wellness
Presented by: Christina Veselak, LMFT, CN

Feelings, perceptions and behavior are mediated by the brain. If the brain is out of balance, our feelings and perceptions are not accurate reflections of our environment, leading to an inability to adequately cope with stress, and inappropriate, addictive or out of control behaviors.
In this two day training, you will learn how many factors throw the brain out of balance, and how to effectively teach your clients to address these imbalances through diet and nutritional supplements available at local vitamin stores. You will also learn how to assess your clients for nutritional and biochemical influences upon their mood and behavior. You will take home ready-to-use client assessment forms, and information hand-outs, along with well-organized resource material.
Topics covered include:
·        Neurotransmitter function and amino acid precursors
·        The role of adequate protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals in brain health
·        Blood Sugar Balance and Hypoglycemia
·        Adrenal Health vs. Fatigue
·        Bio-toxin Illnesses (sick building syndrome)
·        The role of brain nutrition in addictive processes and recovery
·        Brain Allergies
·        Nutritional approaches to ADHD, Insomnia, Eating Disorders, PMS, Anxiety, Depression Violence and Psychosis.
